Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 performance benchmark results

The long awaited Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 performance benchmark results are out. The Inside Microsoft Dynamics GP blog has the scoop on the new testing outcome. A couple highlights: a) concurrent users have been reduced from the previous 1,000 to 500 with the Product Management team citing "real-world customer feedback" as the reason for this decision; b) enphasis was made in testing the Microsoft Dynamics GP web services components along with heavy transaction processing.

The downside... now you cannot compare these results against the previous ones as the testing variables are different.

The full results of the test can be downloaded here (CustomerSource/PartnerSource access required).

Until next post!

It's actually hard to compare any of the previous results because the hardware usually changed for each test (always for the better of course). However, I noticed when comparing the total results of this 500 user + Web Services test vs. the GP 10 test with 1000 users and noticed that the new test actually exceeded the total transaction line count. Pretty impressive really when you consider there were 500 less users throwing data at the system.

James,

Thanks for the input. Hardware definitely plays a significant role in comparisons too, but let's put it this way... if we were to compare apples to apples transaction wise, then at least we could measure the delta of better better hardware and better software (yes, a newer version of SQL Server also counts). However, with these new application testing parameters we would have to wait for a similar test to occur with a future release to establish how much more efficiency you gain from improved hardware or software platforms -- though it's implied as you mentioned.

Good points Mariano. I agree it is good to keep a consistent user count moving forward, so hopefully this 500 test sticks.
