Power Automate: Building a REST endpoint with the HTTP Request connector

Image
In this video I show you how to build a REST endpoint with the Power Automate HTTP Request connector to be used as a web service to transfer data to a on-premises SQL database. In the process, I will be using Postman API development platform to test the endpoint and submit data to a Microsoft Dynamics GP company database via its eConnect API stored procedures.   To check out my YouTube channel visit: https://youtube.com/user/mgomezb1 LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!!! Microsoft Dynamics GP and TLS 1.0

Image
Is not too often that you will hear me saying anything negative about my beloved Microsoft Dynamics GP, but it is quite disheartening, to say the least, to see Microsoft not addressing the industry move away from TLS 1.0 as it relates to Dynamics GP. Background TLS or Transport Layer Security protocol provides privacy and data integrity between applications wishing to exchange data. TLS ensures that the connection is private, because it uses symmetric keys to encrypt the data between the parties; the identity of the communicating parties can be authenticated via some public key; and the connection ensures some level of message integrity, because there's a message integrity check via a message authentication code. As you would expect, TLS 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 (draft), etc., are simply, progressive implementations, albeit with substantial differences that in some cases preclude interoperability between versions, of the same protocol. What is key however to this discussion is the ...

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 Developers' Preview is now available

Image
These are exciting times indeed! Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 Developer's Preview is now available for partners to download, as featured over at Developing for Dynamics GP by Kevin Racer , Sr. Program Manager Lead with the Microsoft Dynamics GP team (See Microsoft announces Developer Preview for Dynamics GP 2015 ). The Developer's Preview features the new Service Base Architecture (SBA) components that will enable developers from all walks of life to write and integrate applications on any platform to Microsoft Dynamics GP via REST services. NOTE: as of the time of this article,  hypermedia is still not part of the current design. You can always find more information about RESTful services online, but here's a primer on RESTful with WCF on MSDN . The RESTful approach facilitates integration across the board as it takes advantage some fundamental principles like HTTP as transport protocol, URIs to identify resources, and Verbs that translate directly into act...

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Virtual Machine image from the Windows Azure Gallery

Image
Part 2/2 -  The Experience In my previous article, Part 1 of the series , I talked about provisioning a Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 development environment from the Windows Azure gallery. If you are already an MSDN subscriber and are already taking advantage of Azure, there isn't much new to you as far as provisioning a VM from the gallery goes. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 VM image One of the first things you will notice on the desktop are shortcuts to Microsoft Dexterity , Microsoft Dynamics , Visual Studio Base Image Icons , a link to the Getting Started with the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Developer Image , and Visual Studio 2013 Premium Edition . I started out by loading the Getting Started help file, which contains tons of information on all the development tools installed and links to resources. I then proceeded to open Visual Studio 2013, which of course, went through the traditional and lengthy initialization process after entering my Microsoft Account information....

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 "Feature of the Day" - Week 8 Digest

Image
Welcome to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 "Feature of the Day" Week 8 Digest! As you read this article, I will be putting the final touches (well, the stuff I am wearing to be precise) to my suitcase to travel to Fargo, North Dakota for the Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Airlift 2012 hosted by GPUG's GP Partner Connections (GPPC) . Much of the Technical Airlift content will focus on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013: how to sell the product, install it, customize it, and support it - doesn't get any better than that! For those of you not attending the conference, the "Feature of the Day" series, published by Inside Microsoft Dynamics GP and summarized here on a weekly basis as a digest article, is the best way to keep building your Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 knowledge, in addition to the Technical Airlift blog articles I will be releasing all this week, live from the conference. Without further due, here are the articles topics for last week. Feature of t...

Codename GP "12" Preliminary Features Series - 4 of 4

Image
Codename GP "12" Preliminary Features - Part 4  This is article is part 4 of 4 from the series Codename GP "12" Preliminary Features . Some images and content reproduced with express permission from Microsoft Business Solutions, a division of Microsoft Corporation. DISCLAIMER: These features are subject to change. In part 3 of the series , we discussed the different enhancements geared towards building up the Microsoft Dynamics GP product depth: enhancements to the GL year-end process, ability to generate Fixed Assets historical reports, and tolerance handling in the purchasing receipt process, are just among the few that stand out. Of course, the Innovation pillar is mostly dominated by the release of the Web Client, but I will have to add some of the other features that got cataloged in the Product Depth pillar as true product innovations, even though the technologies supporting these innovations has been around for quite sometime. Product Depth? Mor...

Microsoft Dynamics GP "12" Multi-tenant Services Architecture

Image
Finally, my new post on Microsoft Dynamics GP "12" Multi-tenant Services Architecture has been released on the Community site under my In My Humble Opinion column. After much debating with my buddy Aaron Donat (thanks Aaron for your patience!) on the previous article I released under the same title, it was deemed that that article should have been changed to reflect the Named System Databases architecture change that the Development team in Fargo was working on. This new article highlights the changes that the Microsoft Dynamics GP web client, web services, eConnect, and Integration Manager will undergo to support various customer deployments under one single application instance. Now, this is true optimization! Hosting partners rejoice! Until next post! MG.- Mariano Gomez, MVP IntellPartners, LLC http://www.IntellPartners.com/
