2009 Payroll Tax Update (Round 4) for Dynamics GP 8.0 Users

If you are using Great Plains 8.0 you can download the Payroll Tax Update (Round 4) file by clicking here. Keep in mind that this script was developed for version 10, but runs just fine on version 8.

I strongly encourage you to execute the script in a test environment to make sure the results are what you are aligned with your expectations. Once you've verified this, you can proceed to execute against your production environment.

NOTE: They were additional changes included in a separate installation file to update Missouri's tax code. This script does not include those changes. I am in the process of working on the new installation file and will post back with the updated tax rates for Missouri. In addition, and according to Microsoft, The msp file for I-9 and Cobra changes will be available on March 25.

Hi!
You mentioned in a newgroups posting of mine that you would be doing a post soon on using GP fields as a sort of calculator. Is this still in your plans?

Hi zgall1,

I am very committed to deliver some of the best content and samples you can possibly find on the Internet. As with everything, I have to jugg between family, work, keeping up with the blog, the Dynamics GP newsgroup, and the hundred of requests I get to address a certain topic.

I have started drafting this article and the code is in the workings. There are certain issues that I need to work out, and I will get to them eventually.

Thanks for following up and stay posted.

Best regards,

Hello, we're getting ready to apply part 1 of the Round 4 tax updates. (We are on GP 9.0) Can you tell me how we're supposed to know when these updates are available? I thought that if your PC was connected to the internet, that it would prompt our payroll person when tax updates are available. Somehow, though, it didn't do that for rounds 2 or 3 this year, but it did for round 4. Is this a setting we may have accidentally changed? Also, can you tell me for sure that we're ok to do part 1 of the updates separate than part 2 (the part that makes code changes) so long as we don't have the Missouri issue? We need more time to test before we roll part 2, and I want to be 100% sure this is ok. Thanks for your helpful blog!

Hi Mariano,
I tried to run the script. I noticed that the DB I have does not have all the tables you're updating in the script.
Actually it only has the table UPR41301.
Is that correct?
Thanks!

Anonymous,

Unfortunately, there is no automated payroll tax update detection feature built into GP. I concur with you, it would be fantastic if this could work similar to the Windows Update process, but this is not the case...yet. The only way to stay in tune with these updates is by visiting CustomerSource and/or PartnerSource as often as possible, or to pay attention to the CSPAN.

Hope this helps,

Jose,

The payroll tax tables are a part of the DYNAMICS database, not the company database. You must execute the query against the former.
